Donna Cross & Scott Kennedy
Donna Cross and Scott Kennedy have shaped how Wellingtonians see themselves. Few people stop to think about the illustrators who created the exuberant Wellington airport branding, the kooky toilet signage, or the cosmopolitan images on L’Affare coffee packaging. These are everyday things that put a smile on your face and help make Wellington what it is today.
Donna and Scott’s output also includes posters, postage stamps, film catalogues, corporate reports, murals, magazine illustrations, school journals, wine labels, logos, and books - all of them helping define New Zealand to the world, and the nation to itself.
Meeting at the Wellington School of Design in the early 80s where both studied Visual Communication Design, Donna and Scott founded their company, Three Eyes, in 1987, and forged both a business and a partnership that lasted 30 years. Three Eyes produced distinctive, intelligent, spirited work that continues to stand the test of time, following Scott's death from cancer in 2013.
Donna is now in a new stage of life without Scott. She continues to produce illustrations and has established a gallery in her Breaker Bay home to sell both her own, and Scott’s legacy of artworks.
